Meet Paul Nelson
SKOOKUM TUMTUM. When looking for a term to describe Paul Nelson’s willingness to try just about anything, skookum tumtum was one of the good ones that came up. According to reference.com, skookum tumtum’s primary definition is brave or bold. But it also has several synonyms, such as adventurous, daring, spunky, and venturesome. These seem like good descriptors for Paul, so skookum tumtum it is.

Paul’s skookum tumtum nature can be seen in many ways, including his move from his childhood home of Milton Keynes, England to the United States, his love of the outdoors, including football (soccer of course!), his one day as a member of the American Football team back in England (ask him about that day sometime and why he never went back), and his new adventures on the ski slopes in Colorado. Paul is willing to try it all. In fact, Paul is hoping to expand his horizons in the next few years to include “something where my feet leave the ground”; he has his sights set on hang gliding as his next big adventure.

Having a skookum tumtum outlook on life also pays off at Applied Trust. Paul will tackle any problem, no matter how big or daunting, and he will do it with a smile. His expertise has a wide span and, as his clients have seen, if you present him with a new challenge he will jump in and everyone comes out pleased in the end. Paul works easily with both Unix and Windows operating systems and is also adept at the application layer, debugging, fixing, and improving systems wherever it is needed.

Paul has a bachelor’s degree in Physics with Computing and a master’s degree in Information Security. He holds the CISSP certification (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)and the MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) certification with a focus on security.
