| Meet Ben Whaley |
If you ask Ben Whaley if he has been anywhere interesting this year, the answer will most certainly be yes. In the past 12 months, Ben has walked on glaciers in Alaska and made his way through the crowded streets of Korea. Before that, he explored ancient cities in Italy, France, Spain, and England. Back at home, Ben is active with the local Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization. He currently has one "little brother" that he enjoys spending time with. Besides attending sporting events together, Ben also tutors him in his schoolwork, and the two share an interest in computers and technology.Ben's desire to learn about many places is consistent with his desire to learn about many technologies at Applied Trust. Ben's expertise includes multiple programming languages as well as Unix system administration. Ben's technology journey began early, when he started consulting with businesses in his Wyoming hometown of Casper before setting off to Colorado for college. He earned his bachelor's degree in computer science from CU Boulder, where he also did system administration work for the university. A trip to the Telluride Tech Festival introduced him to some of the Applied Trust team, and a few months later he joined the company. At Applied Trust, Ben's work spans a wide range of tasks, many of which focus on the application and operating system layers. He is a Red Hat Certified Engineer and usees his Perl, PHP, C++, and VBScript programming skills to help clients design, operate, and manage high-performing, reliable systems. "Applied Trust encourages balance in the lives of its employees, enabling me to grow in both of my passions: technology and travel."
