Schwag Brag Q208

This issue’s schwag brag comes from Don Wrege, an interactive media production manager by day and parody songwriter by night who has become locally known for penning new lyrics about various only-in-Boulder issues to well-known songs. Don performed one of his songs at a November 2007 rally related to Boulder’s infamous “adverse possession” case, where he had his trusty Applied Trust 5-year birthday party commemorative cooler bag in tow. The case involves a land dispute between neighbors in South Boulder that ended in court with the property owners losing a portion of their land to their neighbors under the seldom-used legal principle of adverse possession. The matter drew local and national media attention, and Wrege was called upon by the property owners, Don and Susie Kirlin, to participate in the rally held in their support. Wrege performed his song “This Land Belongs to Don and Susie” to the tune of “This Land Is Your Land” for the occasion. The song is available at: http://simulstream.com/land_grab/. While the case is still in appeal, we know it won’t be long before Don finds another local cause to lampoon with his parody songs – and his ATE cooler bag will help to ensure he stays hydrated and nourished wherever he is!
