Applied Trust Engineer to Speak at Boulder Linux Users Group Meeting

BOULDER, Colo. -- [September 13, 2007] -- Applied Trust senior engineer Ben Whaley will be speaking about web application security at the Boulder Linux Users Group (BLUG) meeting, to be held in Boulder on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 7 p.m. at the offices of Aztek Networks.

Whaley’s presentation will address vulnerabilities such as cross-site scripting and SQL injection flaws, as well as secure coding practices and application testing. He will focus primarily on web application security as it applies to the Linux platform, though he will also cover general web application security topics.

"There are so many real-world cases of common web application vulnerabilities being exploited in very damaging ways,” noted Whaley. “This is a really relevant topic for anyone involved in web application development."

The meeting will include Whaley’s presentation, followed by a giveaway of an Applied Trust LED flashlight, and a question-and-answer session.

Whaley is a Red Hat Certified Engineer and is Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) #109297. He has conducted seminars on the topic of web application security for a number of Applied Trust’s clients; this will be his first time presenting at BLUG.

The Aztek Networks office is located in Boulder at 2477 55th Street, Suite 202.
