BOULDER, Colo. – [December 12, 2007] – In keeping with its founding mission to give back to the community in which it operates, Applied Trust Engineering will be celebrating the holiday season by making donations to a set of local charities in the name of its clients and friends. “No matter what the economic conditions of a particular year may be, community-based nonprofit organizations always need financial support, and we are glad to be able to contribute to them,” said Trent R. Hein, Applied Trust’s Chief Executive Officer. “We know of no better way of thanking the community that has helped our business to succeed over the past six years than by providing assistance to those in the community who need it.” Hein also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, one of the local nonprofits that will receive a donation from Applied Trust. This year’s funds will be given to four organizations: Environment Colorado, a statewide, citizen-based environmental advocacy organization that works toward resolving the state’s top environmental problems; Humane Society of Boulder Valley, which cares for homeless animals and helps them find loving homes; The Children’s Hospital Foundation, which is dedicated to fulfilling the mission of The Children’s Hospital; and Voices for Children, which advocates for and provides services to child victims of abuse and neglect. Business Partners, a program of The Community Foundation, is one of the components of the Culture of Giving initiative in Boulder County. It recognizes businesses that donate a percentage of their pre-tax profits to charitable organizations in the community. As a member of the Business Partners program, Applied Trust has committed to giving 2 percent or more of its pre-tax profits annually to the nonprofit(s) of its choice. Since January 1 of this year, Applied Trust has donated more than $35,000 in cash and in-kind services to a number of nonprofit organizations, including The Valley Floor Preservation Partners, Rocky Mountain PBS, Best Buddies, Ronald McDonald House, and the MS Society, in addition to the holiday giving charities.
