Applied Trust Consultant Earns Prestigious GIAC Security Certification

BOULDER, Colo. -- [August 21, 2006] --
Applied Trust Engineering‘s Terry Morreale has earned the GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) certification, which demonstrates her knowledge, skills, and abilities in managing security incidents, in understanding and defending against common attack techniques and tools, and in responding to such attacks when they occur.

The SANS (SysAdmin, Audit, Network, Security) Institute founded GIAC – Global Information Assurance Certification – in 1999, as a way to address the need to validate the skills of security professionals. GIAC’s purpose is to provide assurance that a certified individual holds the appropriate level of knowledge and skill necessary for a practitioner in key areas of information security. GIAC certifications are unique in that they measure specific skill knowledge areas instead of general purpose security knowledge.

“This tremendous achievement is testament to Terry’s continued commitment to IT security and to Applied Trust’s valued clients,” noted Trent R. Hein, Applied Trust’s CEO. “Security incidents are always something that’s best to avoid in the first place, but credentials such as the GCIH reinforce our expertise and assure our clients that they are in very competent hands when they do find the need to call us for this type of assistance,” he added.

Morreale also holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification, a highly respected international credential for recognizing a person’s exemplary knowledge, skills, and abilities in essential areas of the information security field.

GIAC is considered the first true technical security certification. The first GIAC professionals were certified in February of 2000, and today there are more than 13,000 GIAC-certified professionals worldwide.
