BOULDER, Colo. -- [July 22, 2008] -– Applied Trust will sponsor the Humane Society of Boulder Valley’s A Cause for Paws Doggie Dash and Walk-a-thon, to be held at the Humane Society on Saturday, September 13, 2008. The event comprises a 5k run, a 3k walk-a-thon, a pet expo, and a pancake breakfast, and participants are encouraged to bring their dogs to join in the fun. Although the event is in its 19th year, this year’s walk-a-thon has a unique element – a corporate team challenge. Applied Trust has taken the initiative to be the ‘Challenger Company' this year, challenging other local businesses to join in the competition. The winning company will not only get bragging rights for the coming year, but also be presented with the traveling trophy by Lisa Pedersen, HSBV’s CEO, and Trent R. Hein, Applied Trust’s CEO, at a catered lunch in the winning team’s honor. “We are very excited to be helping the Humane Society of Boulder Valley take its longstanding, wonderful event to a new level with the addition of the corporate challenge element,” noted Hein, who is a member of the Humane Society’s Board of Directors. “With all of the great resources HSBV offers the community, including pet adoptions, training classes, veterinary services, and fun events such as Camp Muddy Paws for kids, this event is a great way for local companies and individuals to show their support and help HSBV continue its important mission of protecting and enhancing the lives of companion animals.” The Corporate Challenge is designed to build a sense of camaraderie in the workplace while connecting with one of the most progressive Humane Societies in the nation. Throughout the summer participating employees can come together to train and raise money. In September all will celebrate with a race, breakfast, and expo -- all to help homeless animals in the Boulder Valley. In addition to the prize for collecting the most pledges, there will also be a Team Spirit award given to the team with the best costumes/team name/theme, as well as individual prizes for all participants based on pledge totals. The Applied Trust team is looking forward to competing with other local businesses to be the “top dog” of the event. Other organizations signed up for the corporate challenge to date include Boulder Community Hospital, Rally Software, and Lijit Networks.
