BOULDER, Colo. -- [May 20, 2008] -- Applied Trust announced today that it has joined the National Center for Women & Information Technology Entrepreneurial Alliance, a group that is working to address the causes and possible interventions concerning the small number of women involved in starting businesses, filing patents, and transferring technology in the IT field. “We’re excited to join the alliance and support the important cause of advancing women in the information technology realm,” said Trent R. Hein, Applied Trust’s CEO. “We are looking forward to collaborating with other entrepreneurial organizations with the goal of significantly improving the landscape for female IT entrepreneurs.” The Entrepreneurial Alliance is one area of focus for NCWIT, a Boulder-based coalition of more than 100 respected corporations, academic institutions, government agencies and nonprofits working aggressively to increase women’s participation in the field of IT. NCWIT promotes its initiative broadly, from grades K-12 and higher education through industry and academic careers. The coalition’s national infrastructure of Alliances, workshops, research, publications and evaluation provide Alliance members with the tools and support to increase the participation of girls and women in their programs and undertake institutional change within their organizations. Member organizations identify and implement best practices for recruiting, retaining and advancing women, and through NCWIT, work to build accelerated results. Other NCWIT Alliances include the Academic Alliance, the Workforce Alliance, the K-12 Alliance, and the Social Science Advisory Board. About Applied Trust Engineering |
